On October 17, local time, Jeep unveiled the world premiere of the brand's first battery-powered electric vehicle (BEV), the new compact SUV "Avenger", at the Paris Motor Show in France. From the same day, pre-orders for the "Avenger First Edition" will begin in the European market, and a car with a turbo gasoline engine will also be available for Italy and Spain. The new Avenger is a compact SUV with an eye on development in the European market, and is the first step in Jeep's portfolio of electric vehicles. The total length of the Avenger is about 4,080mm, which is about 160mm shorter than the Renegade, and it is positioned in the B-SUV segment, which is currently showing rapid growth in Europe. Jeep CEO Christian Meunier said, "The new Jeep Avenger is an important milestone for the brand," which shows the level of focus.

The Avenger's powertrain is a second-generation 400V electric powertrain developed by NPe (Nidec PSA emotors), a joint venture between Stellatis and Nidec. The electric motor has a maximum output of 156PS and a maximum torque of 260Nm, and the battery has a capacity of 54kWh and a maximum cruising range of 400km (WLTP cycle). As for charging, if you use a 100kW quick charge, you can drive 30km in 3 minutes and charge 20-80% in 24 minutes. In addition, it can be fully charged in 5.5 hours with a normal charge of 11 kW.

Latest Technology

The Avenger is equipped with technology cultivated in the 4xe series of plug-in hybrid vehicles. The Select Terrain System, which allows you to choose from six driving modes that can handle rough roads such as snow and sand, and the automatic control system "Hill Descent Control," which is effective on downhills, are adopted.

In addition to hill decent control, the front and rear overhangs have been shortened and combined with large 18-inch wheels to create a style suitable for off-road driving. Ground clearance is 200mm, which boasts the highest level in the category, with an approach angle of 20°, a breakover angle of 20°, and a departure angle of 32°. The exterior adopts a compact "design approach" that interprets the traditional design of Jeep in a modern way. The front is equipped with a 7-slot grille, which is a Jeep icon, and a fender that expresses robustness with a unique bulge.

From the side view, the trapezoidal wheel arches and diamond-cut 18-inch wheels make a statement. The rear uses a signature light with an X fuel can as a motif. The interior inherits the style of successive models such as the Wrangler, adopting a clean and robust design. The upper part of the dashboard is designed with air vents, ambient illumination, a 10.25-inch touch screen, etc. placed horizontally to create a clear view.

In addition, the center console, which was designed with consideration given to securing space for the driver's seat and front passenger's seat, also functions as a storage space. The actual Avenger was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show 2022. It will go on sale in Europe in the first half of 2023 and will be the most compact Jeep model.
